Wilfrid Mellers (innate April 26, 1914) is an English music critic, musicologist and composer. From either 1964 until 1981 he was founding professor & head of a Department of music at the University of York; he remains emeritus prof of music there. He as well is an honorary fellow at Downing College, Cambridge. In July 12, 1981, he received an honorary degree of music from a City University, London.
A 2004 York Late Music Festival opened with the weekend tribute to Mellers.
